Community Submitted News

At the last Black Writers Reunion & Conference, Director C. Mikki completed 50-60 hours of interviews with attendees for the Black and Write documentary, which offers an inside look at contemporary self-published authors and the business of publishing and acknowledges the impact of BWRC. This feature length film will run 70 to 90 minutes and includes appearances by ReShonda Tate Billingsley, Eriq La Salle, Bentley Kyle Evans, Dr. Venice Berry, Bryan-Keyth Wilson, Dr. Linda Beed, and many familiar faces from the BWRC family.

Indiewire.com reports, “Southern Gurl Productions is creating a documentary that offers a behind-the-scenes view of an American-based writers’ conference that has helped shape several best-selling authors and added their voices to the Black literary giants who made an indelible impression on us all.”
