Call for Proposals

Black Writers Reunion & Conference 2010
June 23-26, 2010 – Atlanta, Georgia
CALL FOR SESSION PROPOSALS

The “open call” for workshop and seminar proposals on the craft and business of writing for the 6th Black Writers Reunion & Conference is now closed. We are now considering proposals on only a few select topics (i.e. bookkeeping for writers, songwriting, blogging for profit) for immediate placement as well as alternate workshop proposals through March 31, 2010, from local presenters or others who are planning to attend the conference.

We invite presentations that demonstrate insight and expertise on the craft and business of fiction, nonfiction, songwriting, ghostwriting, bookkeeping for writers, blogging for profit, food writing, writing for the web, and inspirational writing with interactive workshops that will allow participants to engage in hands-on writing or related activities wherever possible. We welcome sessions as well that would permit attendees to receive feedback on their work, whether during or following the conference. Workshop styles may range from a modified traditional presentation to skill-building training. Proposals will be evaluated on the following:

  • A well-defined topic with focused objectives
  • Consistency with and significance to the conference emphasis areas
  • Presenter credibility and experience to engage the audience and deliver an outstanding and informative workshop

For more information, download the original Call for Session Proposals in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format below. Please feel welcome to include with your submission any handouts or other accompanying materials that will aid us in evaluating your session for appropriateness for this program. If your proposal is accepted for the program and you do not need hotel accommodations, please advise as we can consider other concessions.
