Hey, good evening, y'all!
I just wanted to share that my new book, Backtalk
, will be out on Kindle next month. I'm pretty pumped about it!
What's it about? Well, it follows Sylvia, who at age fifteen thinks she has to put in extra work to get the boys' attention, since she has just average looks. And in putting in this extra work, she often (to be blunt) just gives it up to whoever will take it. She has a longstanding crush on Dub, who is half of a set of hunky twins, but who doesn't really give her the time of day.
When Sylvia gets knocked up at a party she snuck out to, she vows that her baby will be the best friend she doesn't have, since her friends deserted her and her mother is intent on continuing to punish her for being so 'fast.'
Fast-forward fifteen years, and Sylvia is the mother of two teenagers...Valencio, her golden child, and Candy, who is so much like Sylvia it's frightening. Sylvia had been sure being the opposite of her strict mother and giving her children so much free reign was the way to go, but as time goes on, she's learning that she went about things all wrong. And when she finally starts trying to lay down the law, things only get worse.
My work at a rec center inspired me to write this...I see all kinds of examples of lack of discipline in the home and children who talk any kind of way to their parents. It's baffling.
The book is available for pre-order now; it will be out next month. You can go to this link to check it out: http://amzn.to/2lpRLjX
