Membership in the Black Writers Alliance supports the continued growth, development, and stability of our educational programs and facilitates networking and nurturing of young, new, emerging, and established writers.

BWA sponsors the premier conference by and for Black writers in the country, bringing together writers from the U.S. and other countries to study, develop new skills, learn advanced techniques, hone their crafts, boost confidence, earn recognition, make new friends and reconnect with old ones, gain new readers and fans, and share with each other the unique and unparalleled experience of a multi-day event well known for its relevant, yet diverse workshop and seminar topics, engaging workshop presenters, and inspirational ambience.

BWA also offers networking and fellowship opportunities with a network of working writers, editors, publishers and other industry professionals through in-person meetings and electronic discussion forums. Member benefits include:

• Entry to BWA & BWRC-sponsored and any members-only writing contests held in conjunction with the conference or throughout the year
• Eligibility to apply for conference scholarships
• Priority consideration for admission to free workshops (i.e. “So You Wanna Write” 2010)
• Access to members-only forums
• Expanded business leads and opportunities for freelancers, consultants, and other professionals through the referral directory and job referral services
