Saturday Half-Day Workshops Offer Step-By-Step Instruction for Aspiring Novelists, Nonfiction Book Writers, and Freelance Editors
Can’t attend the full conference? Want more extensive guidance and information on how to write your novel or nonfiction book or start your own editing firm?
Writing the Nonfiction Book – This intensive three-hour workshop will focus on writing non-fiction, including history, biography, self-help books, and even cookbooks and gardening books. We will cover: choosing a subject; doing research; creating a narrative; and finding a publisher. We will also discuss stylistic questions, e.g. should it include personal material, should there be footnotes, what is the appropriate tone of voice? Attendees will be expected to be able to write a synopsis of the book by the end of the workshop, be able to clarify their audience and have developed a marketing hook to pitch to publishers. Register now for only $98.
Story & Structure in Novel Writing - Story and Structure in Novel Writing will focus on helping participants construct a viable plot and effective storyline for your novel. Specifically by focusing on structural development you will leave the course with a clear vision of how to write your novel. Discussions will also provide helpful hints and strategies about other key components like dialogue, characterization, description, visual style, conflict, motivation and marketability. Depending on the time allotted and number of students, exercises concerning the novel premise, characterization and narrative will be completed within a workshop format. This workshop can help writers at all stages whether you have only an idea in your head or if your manuscript is complete, but you’d like to strengthen your story and structure. Register now for only $98.
Start Your Own Editing Firm
